Organising Classes and Clubs

Before being able to take part in fencing some basic understanding of the skills of the sport is required. To start a beginners class or a club it is necessary to have someone who is capable of teaching those skills.

The BFA runs short courses throughout the country for fencers and non-fencers to learn to teach fencing. The courses cover all aspects of safety, class teaching techniques, group management and club Organisation. Back-up information packs are available, together with posters and promotional leaflets.

The BFA can assist in organising lectures, demonstrations and taster sessions to promote new fencing groups and clubs.

Funding to help towards initial equipment cost can sometimes be obtained from Regional Sports Councils, local authority Sport and Recreation Departments, and by fund-raising events.

Every fencer in the UK, whatever his or her standard, benefits in some way from the services provided by the British Fencing Association, which is the governing body of fencing in this country.

Through your membership you will be helping to provide services which are vital for yourself as well as for other fencers.
