CRB

To protect its membership, British Fencing requires all those in a position of responsibility (such as a Coach; Team Manager; Board Directors; Committee members or Club Administrators) undertake a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) enhanced disclosure. All British Fencing staff also undertake enhanced CRB disclosures as do consultants, depending on the role they undertake. Enhanced CRB disclosures help British Fencing to ensure that the sport of fencing is safe, effective and child friendly.

It is also one element of the requirements of the British Fencing Coach Register and also the British Fencing Team Manager Register. This means that all staff travelling with GB Squads and Teams should have a "valid" CRB disclosure.

Whilst CRBs are only a snapshot of information given at any one time, British Fencing follows the guidance of the NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) which is to request an enhanced disclosure every 3 years. We will shortly be setting up e-mail reminders to members for this.
