BBC Things to do

10th December 2012

2012 has been a fantastic year for sport and the success of the Olympics and Paralympics have inspired the nation to get active.

BBC THINGS TO DO – WHAT IS IT?

People from all over the UK have been inspired by an incredible year of sport and have used Things To Do to search for sports taster sessions near to them. We want to continue this success and are keen to invite new sports partners to get involved.

The Things To Do website attracted over 270,000 unique visitors during the Olympics and Paralympics and our partners benefit from major coverage including:

  • Links from the BBC Sport homepage and specific sport pages, visible by over 2 million unique daily visitors.
  • BBC Regional News pages through the interactive Things To Do widgets.
  • Things To Do gets regular profiling on the BBC Homepage, which receives over 3 million unique visitors a day.

Watford Fencing Club recently reported that 50% of places booked on their beginners’ courses were booked through the BBC Things To Do website.

HOW DO I UPLOAD MY ACTIVITIES?

In order to make the most of BBC Things To Do and the exposure available through BBC Sport, become a partner today by visiting www.bbc.in/activitymaker.

Partners running sport activities must be not-for-profit and/or publicly-funded and be a registered member of a recognised and relevant governing body for sport.

If you run sport taster activities that fit the following criteria, get them promoted!

  • Sessions must include active participation in sport (not spectator events).
  • Activities should either be free of charge or run on a cost-recovery basis.
  • The sport must be accessible to the general public, not just club members.
  • Sessions must happen at a specific time on a specific day.

(Please read the Sports Taster Project Guide for full details.)

Extend the legacy of our fantastic sporting summer by becoming a Things To Do partner and uploading your activities!
