Mepstead, Tofalides and Rosowsky to join the BUCS team

Three fencers have been selected to join the BUCS team competing at the World University Games 2013 next month in Russia.

Marcus Mepstead (London School of Economics and Politics), Husayn Rosowsky (University of Greenwich) and Alex Tofalides (University College London) will represent Great Britain in Kazan.  This will be Rosowsky’s second appearance at the WUG after finishing sixth in Shenzhen in 2011.  Since then he has become senior British Champion and competed for Team GB at the London Olympic Games in 2012.

These fencers will form part of a 175-strong GB team comprising of athletes from artistic gymnastics, badminton, football, judo, rugby 7’s, shooting, swimming and tennis as well as fencing.  They will all be heading for team kitting out this weekend where for the first time Kukri will be providing bespoke kit.  As Mepstead and Rosowsky are currently competing at the Under-23 European Championships in Poland they will be kitted out at a later date.

The World University Games is the second largest multi-sports event in the world, after the Olympic Games.  13,000 athletes representing 170 countries will be welcomed to Kazan, Russia from July 6-17.
