SABRE  – 30th August – 1st September – Arrival 9.00 for a 10.00 start on Day 1

Nottingham University, Jubilee Campus, Jubilee Sports Centre, Triumph Road, Nottingham, NG8 1BB

Focus Areas – Overview

Day 1

  • Own warm-up
  • Distance session: controlling distance in different areas of the piste; what distance am I trying to create and why?
  • Free fence with focus on varying distance in different areas
  • Fencing in pools of 5-6 with promotion and relegation;
  • Group cool down

Day 2

  • Own warm-up
  • Footwork sessions: choice-reaction from different preparations
  • Scenario fencing: focused on selecting preparation for action
  • Team tactics: discussion on team orders and tactical subs
  • Team matches
  • Own Cool down

Day 3

  • Own warm-up
  • Scenario fencing focused on back 2m in attack and defence
  • Buddy fencing in 2m scenario
  • Individual competition (DEs to 15, fence for all places)
  • Own Cool down

Knowledge Transfer

    1. Workshop: Choosing the right preparation for my action/intention Led Nikolay Dinev
    2. Workshop: The 2 metre zone…setting up defensive actions under pressure; the ‘penalty-taker syndrome’ at the end of long attack Led by Jon Salfield
    3. Coach Education – Hungarian Master Peter Frohlich:  A technical session focusing on the coaches signals, with a tactical session focusing on coaching parry-riposte in different situations and distance in the middle 4m

EPEE – 30th August – 1st September –  10:00 start on Day 1

Day 1

      • Guided warm up.
      • Movement (Focus on control, speed of back foot and hip position)
      • Fights to five (Focus on your personal development goals)
      • Guided recovery session

Day 2

      • Guided warm up.
      • Movement (Focus on control, speed of back foot and hip position)
      • Bouts – (DE tactics scenario)
      • Bouts – (DE building the fight scenario)
      • Guided recovery session

Day 3

      • Guided warm up.
      • Movement (Focus on control, speed of back foot and hip position)
      • Team Matches 1 (Building knowledge of my fencing and how I perform in a team)
      • Team Matches 2 (Building knowledge of how others fence and perform in a team)
      • Guided recovery session

      1.  Small group sessions throughout the camp on ” What information are we giving our opponent with our body language.” Led by Ian Lichfield

FOIL – 7th – 8th September – 10.00 start on Day 1

Focus Areas -Overview

Day 1:

      • Own Warm Up
      • Poule fights to 5 points
      • Partner work and footwork rotation session: to score on collapsing distance & change of direction
      • Scenario fencing: focus on making the first hit and closing the fight
      • Free fencing
      • Own cool down

Day 2:

      • Own Warm Up
      • Discussion: Poule behaviour routines: How to maximise your results in the poules
      • Poule – fencing part 2
      • DE- Fights : Focus on improving the one minute break
      • Discussion: Team routines and behaviour/roles
      • Team – Fencing
      • Own cool down

Knowledge Transfer:

      1. Workshop: to score on collapsing distance; led by Chris Galesloot
      2. Workshop: to maximise your fencing / results in the poules
      3. Workshop: Team routines and behaviour; led by Keith Cook
      4. Coach Education: Coach the Coaches intro: led by Sam Parfitt and Jonathan Katz

ARRIVAL
Please arrive at your specific venue for a 10:00 start on Day 1 and 09:00 start on Day 2 and Day 3 (Epee and Sabre only).

DEPARTURE
Depart from the same venue at the times below
Sabre – 16:00
Epee – 17:00
Foil – 17:00

Check to see if you have received an invitation for this camp. The invitation will come from infusionsoft, there will be a signing up page then you will receive an email with the link for the payment.  Your place on the camp is not confirmed until you have paid.

ACCOMMODATION
Fencers are required to book their own accommodation. `There is no centralised accommodation at this camp.

ATHLETE PROFILE
Please ensure that you have updated your Athlete Profile in advance of this camp. You will not need to share this with the Athlete Development Team until afterwards, but make sure you have your profile with you at the camp.
