This process is to be followed in the event of a potential risk to life incident (external or internal factors) at a BF run activity (camps and competitions).
Situations included are general risk to life – fire, terrorist etc.
All activities will be subject to risk assessments which will include consideration of security threats. BF monitor the threat rating and take action in accordance with advice from authorities. This may include registering certain events and could (in theory) require us to cancel an activity at short notice.
In the event of an imminent threat to life BF will follow the standard venue protocols. This could involve evacuation or a requirement to remain in certain parts of a building.
In the event that BF hire a venue where there are no venue staff present, BF will appoint a fire/security marshal who will be trained by the venue operators in the venue procedures (for fire this will include evacuation routes and muster points)
At the start of every camp there will be a briefing on procedures for fire and emergency evacuation.
The role of the staff will be to evacuate people to safety – not to fight fires!
For all international activities the risk assessment will include FCO advice and guidance from the BF Security Officer.
Risk assessments will include consideration of additional measures to reduce risk. International activities will be cancelled if the risk is deemed too great.
