Following on from feedback, we have changed the way in which we select athletes to attend the Talent assessment days. Instead of invitations being issued by the WCP purely based on cadet and junior ranking lists, we are now asking athletes who wish to be considered to submit an application form for consideration. On receipt of the applications, the WCP Talent Team will consider each application on their merits and identify those athletes that will be invited to one of the assessment days.
The criteria that will be used in assessing the applications are as follows:
Not all applicants will be invited to attend, assessment will be limited to 24 athletes in each of the three weapons. Fencers who have already done an assessment and were not invited to join one of the programmes are welcome to reapply. All personal coaches are welcome and encouraged to attend the assessment days with their fencer(s). Please ensure that all applications are received by British Fencing no later than 5.30pm on 5th June 2015.
Please do contact myself or Neil Brown, Performance Coordinator for Talent, if you have any queries or need any additional information.
We look forward to receiving your applications.
Application forms can be found on the talent page here.
