Truro Fencers Continue to Impress
Will Deary won a bronze medal in Bulgaria today at the Junior World Cup in Plovdiv. He started the day well winning five of his six first round matches. In the direct elimination, which began with a round of 128, Deary beat Agamy (EGY) 15-3, Germoni (ITA) 15-5, Metryka (USA) 15-14, Chin (USA) 15-9 and Bancsic (HUN) 15-12 to guarantee himself a medal.
In the semi-final he faced Dario Cavaliere (ITA) and went into the second half of the fight 8-5 down. He was unable to recover and lost 15-10. The Italian lost the gold medal match, 15-9 to Benjamin Nantanzon (USA) as Leonardo Dreossi (ITA) joined Deary with a bronze medal.
