Two new schemes confirmed

British Fencing is pleased to confirm the two new schemes for Junior ranking and selections ahead of the new season.   The World Class Performance Team will now take over full responsibility for managing the junior international squad programme.  The International Youth Committee has been disbanded and a new International Cadet Management Group set up.

This update is aimed at fencers who are trying to qualify to fence for Great Britain at the 2016 Junior European and World Championships, their parents and their coaches.

After a lengthy consultation process, British Fencing has taken the decision to separate the protocol for ranking from that of selection.  Further details for each scheme can be found at the following links:

–        Junior Ranking Scheme 2015-16

–        Junior Selection Policy 2015-16 & Supporting Notes

These changes have been made in an effort to allow our fencers to perform at the highest level on the international stage both at Junior and Senior levels.  In addition to that the consultation panel were keen to ensure that no fencer was exposed to major championships too early in their development.

We have confirmed all our details as soon as possible after the organisers of domestic ranking events confirmed their dates.  Once this information had been received we required final sign-off from the consultation panel.

Fencers who are interested in being considered for selection for next year’s European and World Championships now have until the end of the month to complete their 2015-16 Training and Competition Plan which can be found here.
