The Sport and Recreation Alliance’s Community Sport and Recreation Awards have been running for over 20 years, celebrating the very best that grassroots organisations offer their local communities and members.
Today there are in the region of 151,000 sport and recreation clubs in the UK, from karate to kabaddi and street dance to netball – activities for people from every walk of life. It is this variety which makes the British landscape what it is, uniquely and positively contributing to so many different lives in so many different ways.
The Community Sport and Recreation Awards demonstrate the vital work that is going on at the grassroots level. From the organisations providing youngsters with a pathway from playgrounds to active adulthood, to the clubs making sure that their helpers and volunteers are supported and encouraged to continually develop, this year’s winners will be a perfect advert for how our sector enriches lives.
