2021-2022 International Results – Raw Data

Following requests from athletes, parents and coaches, we have taken the decision to share the existing publicly available performance data on athletes representing British Fencing/GBR that is collated and analysed to support decision making within the Athlete Development Programme.

One set of data collates by athlete: the event details, number of poule fights, hits scored in poules, hits received in poules, poule result indicator (hits scored minus hits received), number of 1 point losses (eg 5-4), whether the athletes was promoted to the direct elimination (DE) stage, whether they received a bye, the number of DE fights they fenced, the number they won, the resultant % DE bout wins and the final DE score.

The colours indicate the % finishing position range which can be cross referenced with BF Pathway Standards and the standards set out in the GBR Selection Policy and used as indicators for season planning.

  • Gold = top 8%
  • Yellow = >8% to 16%
  • Green = >16% to 40%
  • Blue = >40% to 70%
  • Light Red =>70%
  • Dark Red = no poule victories

The % finish levels used within the pathway standards will undergo a review in the summer of 2023. This in preparation of any adjustments that would come into effect in the 2023-2024 season.

The ADP Team will be reviewing the Cadet performance data, this with a view of developing guidance for an entry standard at nominated EFC competitions.

If you have any further questions about this post, please submit them to us via the form here and a member of the ADP team will come back to you.
