Update on the nomination status of the Senior Women’s Sabre event in Tashkent.
An administrative error was recently identified on the GBR Calendars regarding the categorisation of the Senior Women’s Sabre event in Tashkent. The competition had been listed as a development event for October 2025, when in normal practice it would have been designated as a nominated event. Development events do not involve selection, although members may attend independently and earn BF ranking points. Performances at development events do not contribute to major championship selection.
The coaching team raised concerns this week that the categorisation did not align with expectations. Interest in similar events has historically been low, which meant the issue had not surfaced earlier.
Following a review, and with no conflicting events on the same dates, the Senior Women’s Sabre competition in Tashkent will be recognised as part of the selection window for this season’s major championships. The selection for this event, along with the related invites, have been posted today.
