This year’s EFC U14 Festival took place on the 26th-27th June in Cividale del Fruili, Italy. The event was the culmination of the 2025-26 EFC U14 season, and provided a valuable opportunity for young fencers to gain international competition experience.

GBR Pathway foil coach Marco Zaffino was the GBR team manager. He reflected:

“As a first‑time team manager, it was a real honour supporting our U14 cohort across all three weapons here. The spirit between fencers, coaches and parents was brilliant. The parade at the end of day one was quite a spectacle, it made us feel valued guests and fully welcomed into the local community. Even at 37 °C, no one complained: plenty of observations, but no moaning.

“There were great results and even greater lessons learned by everyone. The standard was very high. Europe’s next generation is strong and rising fast. It was fantastic seeing we were right in the mix, with a great many things to think about for the future for the GBR Pathway.

“I would also like to thank the organisers, referees and those facing us at the other side of the piste for making this festival both expecting of high standards while also being warm and accommodating.”
