Katrina Smith Taylor started fencing at age 13 in Cornwall after wanting to try Modern Pentathlon. Truro Fencing club took her on and helped her onto the competition circuit. In 2012 she made the move to Liverpool and started working with Atanas Atanasov, who took her to the No.1 position. In 2016 she joined the Merseyside Fire and Rescue, and now spends a lot of time training with the fire fighters in the gym. Most of her spare time is spent outdoors, practising yoga, or sleeping.
