BF Charity Partner, Epée  Club Press Release

The Epée Club Cup   – Cash prizes

The Epée Club Cup, which is being held at the Leon Paul Fencing Centre on Sunday 9th June, has just announced that there will be cash prizes totalling £1000.00 for the winners in each of the following categories:

Overall Winner (£400), Runner-up (£200), Third Place (£100), Top Female (£100), Top Under-20 (£100) and Top Veteran (£100). There will also be non monetary prizes for the eight finalists with the winner holding The Epée Club Cup for the year.

The competition, which has been running now for over 30 years, is unique in the British Fencing calendar in many ways ie:

Firstly, it is by invitation only, with invitations being sent by the Epée Club to a mix of our top ranking Seniors and Juniors, British Veterans, Modern Pentathletes with the odd “wild card” thrown in.

Secondly, it is a mixed competition for 36 fencers with the final DE of 8 being taken from the winners of two poules of 18.  So, everyone invited gets at least seventeen fights as part of an enjoyable day’s competition.  A buffet is also provided during the Final.

Thirdly, it has no relevance in the Ranking System and merely aims to provide a good day’s high calibre fencing against a variety of experienced epeeists.

The Epée Club Charitable Fund – www.epeeclubcharity.org.uk – is partly funding this competition to further its aim of supporting British epée.  Leon Paul is also making a significant contribution by providing access to this world class fencing facility.

Spectators are more than welcome on the day which commences at 1000 hrs.
