We are delighted to announce that the British Fencing Awards Dinner will be held in September 2018, alongside the Cadet and Junior National Championships.  Following from last year’s success the awards offer the opportunity to recognise some of the best clubs, coaches, fencers and volunteers around the country for their contribution to fencing.

The Awards Dinner will be held on Saturday 8th September 2018 at the East Midlands Conference Centre at The University of Nottingham.  The event will fundraise for the Cadet and Junior International GB Squads.  Thanks to the support throughout the community in 2017 the event raised £1300 which was used to subsidise the cost of officials for EFC and FIE JWC events.

Georgina Usher, British Fencing CEO said ‘This is the 3rd Annual BF Awards which provides a fantastic opportunity for the community to celebrate the amazing achievements and continual hard work being done across our sport by athletes, volunteers, officials and referees.  Linking this event with the Cadet and Junior Nationals we will again be raising funds to support the C&J GB squads.”

Nominations are now open.  Awards will be nominated by members.  Other than the Personality of the Year (which is voted on by the members of British Fencing) and the Unsung Hero (appointed by the Board) judging will be done by an independent panel including representatives of Sport England, BUCS and the BOA.  Full details of the awards categories, the awards criteria and how to submit nominations can be found here: http://www.britishfencing.com/events/awards_dinner_2018/

Tickets start from £40 for adults and £30 for under 18s.  Tickets will be available from early April 2018 from Sport80.com.  Last year’s event did sell out so take advantage of the early bird ticket offer by booking before 25th May 2018 to secure your tickets.

If you are interested in sponsoring an award or donating a prize in the raffle please contact Chloe Hobden.  We are also looking for parents who would be interested in forming a fundraising committee for the event.  If you would be willing to be involved with this please contact Chloe Hobden.

Note for Cadet and Junior Championships Participants

The Awards Dinner will take place on the Saturday evening of the Cadet and Junior Championships.  The event schedule will be planned to allow all competitors to attend the dinner, which is being held within 2 minutes walk of the official accommodation block and 5 minutes walk from the fencing venue.  The formal part of the evening will be completed by 9.30pm.

If you have any queries, please contact Chloe Hobden.
