We are delighted to announce that the Cadet and Junior Championships 2017 will be held on Saturday 1^st and Sunday 2^nd July 2017 at the David Ross Sports Village at The University of Nottingham.

The move to Nottingham was promoted by the opportunity to use the world class sporting facilities offered by the recently opened David Ross Sports Village.  

Christine Baily, Assistant Director of Sport at The University of Nottingham, said “We’re delighted to host the British Fencing Championships and welcome the country’s top young fencers here to the David Ross Sports Village at The University of Nottingham. Our brand new £40 million sports village includes a bespoke fencing salle as well as extensive competition areas and event facilities so we look forward to a fantastic event in partnership with British Fencing.”

British Fencing’s Event Manager Amy Grant said ‘We are excited to be partnering with The University of Nottingham to deliver this event. The David Ross Sports Village presents the opportunity to use a state-of-the-art sports venue for our National Championships which will provide a fantastic arena for fencing and an excellent experience for all competitors.”

The competition will follow the same format as last year with the Cadet competition on Saturday 1^st and the Junior competition on Sunday 2^nd July.

The Cadet and Junior Championships is open only to individuals who are members of British Fencing and hold British Nationality. This includes individuals holding multiple nationalities, provided the fencer does not hold an FIE licence issued for a country other than Great Britain. 

Any athlete wishing to be selected for Great Britain at FIE (including Satellites) or EFC competitions at Cadet or Junior level must compete in the National Championships in the relevant category.

 Alongside the Championships we will also be hosting the British Fencing Awards Dinner on Saturday 1^st July. Following on from last year’s success the Awards offer the opportunity for some of the best clubs, coaches, fencers and volunteers around the country to be recognised for their contribution to fencing. Awards will be nominated and voted on by the members of British Fencing. Information on how to buy tickets for the awards, or on how to nominate and vote, will shortly be available here.
