CARON CLAIMS BRONZE AT FINAL WORLD CUP OF THE SEASON

Julia Caron secured the bronze medal at the Junior Women’s Epee World Cup in Beauvais, France, on Saturday.

Ranked forty-sixth in the world, she won all of her first-round fights earning sixth seed for the knockout stages. A bye through the round of 128 preceded victories over Alves De Lima (GER) 15-9, teammate Bulman 15-8, Bernigaud (FRA) 15-6 and Doquet (FRA) 15-9 to make the semi-finals.

She faced American sixth seed and winner of the Burgos World Cup, Michaela Joyce in the top four and narrowly lost 15-14. She shared the bronze medal position with Machulsky(USA) as Joyce claimed silver, losing to Hussian (USA) in the final.
