Chris Price has taken up his role with British Fencing as the new Head of Paralympic Performance, joining from UK Sports Institute.
Chris brings over two decades of high performance experience across a breadth of roles and sports including British Skeleton, where he was part of the team helping Amy Williams win the first female individual Winter Olympic gold medal for over fifty years in 2010, and most notably as Olympic Team Leader for Modern Pentathlon in Tokyo where the Pentathlon team won historic double gold.
Chris said:
“While working with Modern Pentathlon at the University of Bath, I have always kept a close eye on the progress that the Para Fencing programme has made over the Tokyo and Paris Olympic Cycles. There is undoubtedly a phenomenal group of athletes, coaches and staff who individually and collectively are pushing to succeed both in LA2028 and beyond. I am truly excited for the journey ahead, helping the programme continue to deliver GBR success.”
What’s next? Chris shares:
“I am looking forward to travelling out with the team next week to Florida for the World Cup so I can start to understand the sport in more detail, meet and watch our global competitors and start to consider how we can stay ahead.”
