Expressions of Interest to host Cadet & Junior BRCs Apr 2020 – Apr 2021

The window is now open to submit an expression of interest to host a BF sanctioned Cadet and/or Junior Ranking Competition between April 2020 and March 2021.

1 Expression of Interest to host events for the 2020-21 season:

Opens December 18th 2019

Closes January 18th 2020

 

Pre-Requisites

In order to be considered to host a BF sanctioned event, please note the following pre-requisites:

1) Your club/organisation must have full BF membership and operate under all BF policies and procedures.
2) Your club/organisation must have access to a fully trained Welfare Officer who will be present at the sanctioned event.
3) Your club membership has sufficient volunteers to support the organisation and running of the event.

Event License Costs 2020-21

Post Euros/Worlds -Selection – Apr 2020 – Jul 2020, flat rate of £50/weapon, minimum requirement to host 2 weapons. 

Please note that some events may be offered with reduced ranking points available depending on school exams and other international calendar commitments.

Pre-Selection – Aug 2020 – Dec – The Event Licence for these events will be:

• £300 for MF/ME
• £150 for MS/WE
• £75 for WF/WS

Minimum Standards

  • Metallic pistes
  • No self-refereeing
  • 2 rounds of poules – no cut after 1st round
  • Fully trained Welfare Officer present
  • Medical provision
  • Minimum piste placement as per BF Safety guidelines (17th Edition) / Suitable space between pistes and at end of pistes
  • Refreshments
  • Facilities to refill reusable water bottles with drinking water
  • Temperature control
  • Strong wifi connection throughout the venue
  • Visible promotion of the BF Fair Play Code and visible reminders and guidance for parents and spectators
  • Demonstrable ability to comply to the British Fencing Sanctioned Events Policies
  • All event entries to be taken through Sport:80
  • All members of the organising committee to be members of BF (supporter will suffice)
  • Documented Risk Assessment (for insurance purposes)

 

Calendar

BF set the BRC calendar and events must be held by organisers on the agreed available dates. Please note that the 20-21 FIE & EFC calendars have not yet been published.

 

Event levels

There will be 3 event levels aligned to the level of competition:

  • Gold – Junior Selection Events
  • Silver – Cadet Selection Events
  • Bronze – BRCs that happen after World Selection

Gold  Level Events

These are selection events for British Fencing Junior World Cup Circuit events. Organisers looking to host a Gold event are expected to have (in addition to the minimum standards):

  • Pistes requirements: 1 piste for every 5-7 fencers, with a minimum of 10 pistes
  • A piste for finals
  • Level 3 standard Referees (ideally qualified) in the appropriate weapon from the L16
  • Access to a lead referee with a current FIE qualification in the relevant weapon
  • An event delivery team and DT with experience of delivering national level Junior events
  • Refreshment area for players and parents to relax between bouts
  • Standard Entry Fee will be a maximum £50

 

Silver Level Events

These are selection events for British Fencing European Cadet Circuit events. Organisers looking to host a Silver event are expected to have (in addition to the minimum standards):

  •  Pistes requirements: 1 piste for every 5-7 fencers, with a minimum of 10 pistes
  • A piste for finals
  •  Level 3 standard Referees (ideally qualified) in the appropriate weapon from the L16
  • Access to a lead referee with a current Level 4/EFC C grade in the relevant weapon
  • An event delivery team and DT with experience of delivering National level cadet (or higher) events
  • Refreshment area for players and parents to relax between bouts
  • Standard Entry Fee will be a maximum £45

 

Bronze Level Events

BRCs that happen after World Selection. These events allow a club to develop a track record. Bronze events can be hosted across selected age groups ranging from U11 to U17. They are events aiming at transitioning fencers into Cadet events. Organisers looking to host a Bronze event are expected to have (in addition to the minimum standards):

  • Pistes requirements: 1 piste for every 5-7 fencers, with a minimum of 10 pistes
  • A lead referee (Level 3)
  • Level 3 standard Referees (ideally qualified) in the appropriate weapon from the L8
  • Access to support from an experienced event delivery person with the ability to lead as DT, manage and host the event complying to the British Fencing Sanctioned Events Policies
  • Access to a refreshment area for players and parents to relax between bouts
  • Standard Entry Fee will be a maximum £40
