Entries rolling in for the Gateshead International
Great Britain is proud to be hosting the Gateshead International over the weekend of 27th & 28th April, 2013. The event is one of very few FIE Satellite events on the international calendar with World Cup points at stake. Entries for the event will be accepted up until 20th April, 2013 and you can find the entry form here.
This event is one of the longest standing tournaments in the UK that started as the “Cole Cup” in 1949 by Col. R. E. Cole. Col. Cole was an accomplished three-weapon fencer who initially opened the event for both amateur and professional fencers. The event proved so successful that it became an invitational event for best domestic sabreurs before being renamed “The Sabre Club Championships”. In the late nineties, when the FIE began running Satellite events, the now-named Gateshead International was nominated.
