British Fencing will host the GLL Camden Cadet International Sabre Tournament on 31st January/1st February. This men’s and women’s sabre event is one of the only two under-17 international competitions to take place in the United Kingdom. The event will be returning to the Copper Box Arena on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London for the second year running with individual events taking place on Saturday and team events on Sunday.
With just over one week remaining until the closing date, there are competitors from twelve nations entered including France, Italy and the USA which will make for a very strong competition.
Speaking about the competition, British Fencing’s Event Manager, Katie Rhodes said; “It is very exciting to be hosting an event on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The Copper Box Arena is a fantastic venue and should make for an excellent experience for all the competitors and spectators. Preparations are going well and I would like to thank the event sponsors GLL, Beazley, the London Borough of Camden, Leon Paul, Continental Clothing UK and Fifth Column for making the event possible this year.”
Peter Bundey, Deputy Managing Director GLL said; “We are delighted to be hosting and co-sponsoring this important event. The 2015 GLL Camden International Event GLL continues our long-standing association with fencing both through sponsorship of this event and by helping individual athletes and coaches through the GLL Sport Foundation. We recognise that we can play a positive role alongside the sport of fencing at both community and performance levels which in turn helps promote the sport to new audiences”
