WOMEN IN FENCING REFEREEING WITH JEN SANCROFT – #BFLearningWeek

Jen Sancroft, Referee Representative for Scotland, joins #BFLearningWeek to discuss female-led referee mentoring groups and the confidence that they help women to develop on August 29th at 3pm.

About the Session

This session will provide an introduction to the existence of a female-led referee mentoring group, which supports the development of confidence in a challenging environment.

 

Invitation to:

This online session will be of particular interest to referees who would like to know more about the role of female-led mentoring groups.

 

Seminar aims:

  • Increasing awareness of the referee mentoring facility to support personal development and confidence when refereeing.
  • Understanding the referee journey towards own personal goals including the international circuit of cadet and FIE refereeing.
  • Managing difficult conversations with coaches and athletes.

 

About Jen Sancroft

Jen is currently the Referee Representative for Scotland, supporting the development, examination, and registration of Levels 1 and 2. Jen is a sabre fencer for Scotland and GBR, competing in Commonwealth and World Cup competitions for over a decade. She won bronze in the 2014 Commonwealth Championships Individual event, as well as gold in the Team event. Jen works to promote referee training and education.

#BFLearningWeek 2022 will explore many aspects of our exciting sport, with experts in coaching, sports psychology and performance joining guest speakers and the BF team to give insight into our fencing world and its future.

The week takes place between 22nd and 29th August with a series of online events.
