Craven District Council Recognises Lockyer’s contribution to the community through fencing
British Fencing is pleased to congratulate Jim Lockyer for winning one of Craven District Council’s inaugural Community Champion Awards.
As winner of the Sports Award, Lockyer was recognised for his contribution to the community through his tireless work at Skipton Fencing club. During the awards ceremony it was acknowledged that the club, which he founded, regularly services up to 65 young people and adults every week. It was also noted that it was not unlikely to see GB representatives fencing alongside beginners at the club.
Margaret Nolan, British Fencing’s Head of Development, added; “Jim works extremely hard and is very deserving of this accolade. He also deserves the recognition and thanks that he is getting from British Fencing. Well done!”
British Fencing is keen to promote any local/national awards given to any of our clubs, coaches or volunteers so please do let us know via your Regional Hub Lead Officer.
