British Fencing is delighted to announce that Katie Dolan has been promoted to Events Manager with immediate effect. Her new responsibilities will include managing the delivery of competitions that come under British Fencing’s remit and managing the domestic competition calendar.
Previously the vast majority of work to deliver British Fencing competitions was provided and managed by the Competitions and Calendar Committee (ComCom). Their hard work, dedication and commitment continuously drove improvements in the delivery of our competitions. With the stepping down of the ComCom Chair, British Fencing has recognised the need to provide more direct support and management from Head Office. Given Katie’s wealth of experience in this area, and proven ability to work with members she was the obvious choice.
Katie’s initial priorities include undertaking an operational review of the 2014/2015 calendar of competitions. Katie will work with former members of ComCom, recruiting new volunteers as necessary to create a working groups structure to ensure that the competitions and calendar functions are delivered.
Katie Dolan said; “I’m really excited to get started in this new and challenging role. I am pleased to continue working with the team of excellent existing volunteers who help British Fencing events to run smoothly, and am equally enthusiastic to get new people involved to ensure our events continue to improve. I am also looking forward to working with the new CEO to develop a refreshed strategy for competition delivery and calendar management making sure the requirements of fencers from grass roots through to performance athletes are met.”
Jon Milner, Technical Director 2008-2010, member ComCom 2011-2013, said; “I am extremely pleased that Katie is taking on her enhanced role at British Fencing. I have worked with Katie for several years now and have never found her less than 100% committed to ensuring each event was a success. It is great to work with Katie because I know if she says she will do something, it gets done. I have complete confidence in her. British Fencing and its members are lucky to have her in the role.”
CEO, Georgina Usher, said; “Katie has a well-deserved reputation for consistently delivering with a positive, professional attitude and I am delighted she has accepted this role”
