LEVEL 3 & 4 REFEREE EXAMS TO BE HELD IN APRIL 2023

BF is pleased to announce that this spring there is an opportunity to take your Level 3 or 4 referee exams: Level 3Birmingham International (8th & 9th April) and Level 4 – Senior National Championships (15th & 16th April).

The Level 3 referee assessment will be held across the Birmingham International weekend (08-09.04.2023) for those wishing to take their theory and first practical assessment or continue their practical assessment journey.  There are limited places available. Please contact Nickie Bailey for more details or register your interest in the Level 3 assessment process here.

More information on the Level 3 referee assessment process can be found here.

For those referees already holding a full Level 3 epee qualification, BF invites you to sit your Level 4 (Senior National Referee) referee qualification at the Senior National Championships (Lee Valley Athletic Centre), being held on the 15th and 16th April 2023.

Vilem Madr (Chez) will be the international assessor for the exam. Vilem holds two FIE licenses and is a FIE senior referee. He has been a member of the EFC Referee Commission since 2017, having originally been involved in the development of the EFC C license. He has refereed at over 40 Senior World Cups, as well as 25 Zonal Championships, 13 World Championships (both in all categories), and the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016. As an EFC delegate, he has been the lead referee at over 25 Cadet Circuits and 5 European Championships. He has also presented more than 21 National and International referee seminars.

Due to the competition schedule the assessment will run slightly differently to normal with the practical observations being held on Saturday 15th April, with the seminar, written theory exam and video refereeing exam and verbal feedback being held on Sunday 16th April.

To register your interest, please complete the Level 4 Senior National Championships registration form here.

Full details about the Level 4 exam process, including the sliding fee scale, can be found here. BF as part of its return to fencing program is offering a 50% discount to non-pathway referees that wish to sit their Level 4 exams.

Please note that an up-to-date referee log is required to be uploaded as part of the entry process for both assessments.
