Four athletes selected for World Team Championships
British Fencing today announced it’s selections for the Men’s Sabre Team who will compete at the World Team Championships, which will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, beginning on 25 April, 2016.
Will Deary, James Honeybone, Curtis Miller and Jonathan Webb will form the British team. Men’s Team Sabre is rotated off the Olympic schedule this year along with Women’s Team Foil and their World Championships will also act at the Olympic Test Event.
Speaking about the selections, Performance Director, Alex Newton said; “This is an important competition on a number of fronts. It is the World Championships for the men’s sabre team and an important step on our current development journey. I am delighted we have a mix of experienced and more junior athletes selected. In addition, it is the test event for the Olympic Games and will provide the opportunity for our key staff to experience the Rio environment and put our final plans for the Games together.”
British Fencing will not send Women’s Foil to this event.
