Sport England has announced a second major portfolio of investments designed to get more people playing sport regularly and keeping that healthy habit.
£101 million, which includes specific National Lottery and Government funding for 25 governing bodies of sport, will mainly be targeted people who have a strong affinity with sport, including talented athletes trying to reach the top. Some of the funding will be invested in tackling inactivity, creating more sports clubs for young people and mass participation programmes and events.
The investments also include support for the GB basketball and England netball teams, as they prepare for major international competitions in the next two years. Those grants will help the top players in basketball and netball to train and prepare to wear their national kits with pride.
