Rob Cawdron moves on from ADP Weapon Lead Role

Rob Cawdron will be stepping down from his role as ADP Sabre Weapon Lead as he leaves the BF Executive Team on January 20th 2023 to pursue career opportunities away from the sport sector.

Rob Cawdron joined the BF Executive Team in 2019, working in the ADP team initially as a Project Officer, and since June 2021 as the ADP Weapon Lead for Sabre.  As part of this role he provided leadership and guidance in the development of the GBR sabre programme , setting and improving standards at ADP camps and competitions, whilst also supporting GBR sabre fencers and coaches across all ages.

Rob is moving away from British Fencing to pursue opportunities outside of the sport sector. He will be leaving on 20th January 2023.

Rob said, “I’ve been grateful to have the opportunity to lead ADP Sabre these last 18 months, and to have the chance to work with many talented athletes and coaches working in GB Sabre. It has been an inspiring role and I consider myself very fortunate to have been able to play a part in supporting those athletes and coaches. I feel that the time is right now to move on, and give ADP and GB Sabre the opportunity to develop and grow in the next stage of its evolution. I’ve learned a huge amount working at BF since 2019, and I’m looking forward to seeing it continue to grow and develop over the coming years towards the Paris 24 Games and beyond.”

Steve Kemp, Pathways Director said “Rob has been a valued member of the ADP team and the wider organisation.  One of Rob’s strengths is his differing view and perspective, a level of divergent thinking he has added to a number of work areas. A skill not easily replaced! As a team we wish him well in his new career path, I’m sure he will do well. On a personal note, I would like to thank him for all his work over the last three and a half years.”

In the short term, Rob’s administrative responsibilities will be picked up by the ADP executive team pending a wider review of coaching roles in light of planning for the Paris Olympic Games.
