Today British Fencing launches a community consultation to seek views on proposals to change the Selection Policy for Senior World Cups and Grand Prixs.

This proposal follows a review conducted by the International Senior Management Group supported by the BF CEO and Chair.

Out of this review a number of recommendations arose.  These included a reduction in discretion for individual selection and a need to indicate a pathway of international experience so that athletes representing GBR at the highest level get the right international experience at the right time in their career.

The result is a proposal for an updated system based on defining levels of competition, alongside a squad based system of qualification.  The intention is that this will come into effect from 1st January 2019.

This proposal is being made available to the community for comment and can be found here. The consultation will end on 23/4/2018.
