1. The winner of the most recent British U23 Championship will have automatic selection.

2. Other places are at the discretion of the selectors using the following criteria:     

• L8 in the most recent Junior European or World Championships
• L8 in a Junior World Cup in the current season or
• L8 in an FIE Satellite World Cup in the current season  or
• Top 10 GBR Senior Ranking with international points contributing at the Selection Date  or
• Nominated by Performance Director  

Additional relevant international results, such as the EFC U23 circuit, may be taken into account.

27th Feb 2017 Note – Fencers representing GB in the U23 European Championships will be automatically exempt from the requirement to compete at the Senior National Championships 2017 to be eligible to represent GB in FIE and EFC competitions.
 
There will be no related adjustment to ranking schemes and selectors will be informed of the clash.
