SOUTHERN REGIONAL HUB DEVELOPMENT DAY

Welfare Officer Training – 23 March

British Fencing is encouraging all fencing organisations to appoint a Welfare Officer (or two as the role could be shared between one male and one female officer).  While it is not mandatory at this time, it is hoped that clubs that have members under the age of 18 years old will take this positive step to demonstrate that our sport is fun, safe and friendly.

The ‘Time to Listen’ session – a new sport specific workshop – is aimed at all Welfare Officers and will be led by Liz Behnke (BF Equality & Safeguarding Manager).

To be a Welfare Officer the person has to attend a minimum of a safeguarding course – preferably Sportscoach UK’s Safeguarding and Protecting Children (SPC1), the introduction to ‘Engarde, Ready’ (see below) and the ‘Time To Listen’ session.

The required sessions are being held in Newbury, Berkshire from 10am till 4pm. Please bring a packed lunch but tea and coffee will be available.

There is no charge but you must book your place.  If there is not enough interest this event may be cancelled.  To book your place please go to www.southernfencing.org.uk  and scroll down to 23 March on the calendar.

Team Manager Training – 23 March

Would you like to help manage a team locally or for your home country or British Fencing in the UK or abroad?

Revised Team Manager training is open to all those currently on the Team Manager register and for those who would like to be considered for this role.

To do this role you need to have a current DBS (CRB) and attended at least SPC1 training.  In addition you need to attend a new session ‘Engarde, Ready’ and this is going to be held as part of this day’s training.

The training is being held in Newbury, Berkshire from 10am till 4.30pm.  Please bring a packed lunch but tea and coffee will be available.

There is no charge but you must book your place.  If there is not enough interest this event may be cancelled.  To book your place please go to www.southernfencing.org.uk  and scroll down to 23 March on the calendar.
