British Fencing, the National Governing Body for Fencing, is now seeking to appoint two Talent Pathway Coaches, one for epee and one for foil, to join the existing Sabre Coach as part of the Talent Pathway coaching team.

The Talent Pathway Coaches will have overall leadership responsibility for all athletes identified as part of the Fencing Talent Pathway, from Talent Development Centres (TDCs) through to Performance Foundations. The main purpose of the post is to lead on the technical coaching, development, training and competition plans for athletes on the Talent Pathway.

With the Talent Pathway Manager, they will be responsible for supporting the Talent Pathway philosophy, culture and values and will help to support an environment of continuous improvement which develops independent, robust and resilient athletes. It’s an exciting time to join our Talent Team as we develop our Performance Pathways. By becoming an important member of our Coaching Team you will be playing a key role in shaping the future of our sport at a crucial stage in the development of our young fencers.

The role will be contracted for a set number of days each year and will include camps, individual coaching where required between camps, Talent Development Centre support, various Talent Selection days and identified international competitions. The post will also include leadership, co-ordination and administrative duties.

The successful candidate should have proven experience of coaching and developing junior fencers and of achieving world-class results. They will be highly skilled in finding effective solutions for high-performance related issues and will need strong relationshipbuilding skills in order to to persuade and influence.

The position is based at our Elite Training Centre in Hendon, London. However, significant travel – both nationally and internationally – is necessary to fulfil the duties of this post.

This is a profession which is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check will be required.
