#THEGREATINDOORS – BRITISH FENCING GETS SCOUTS FENCING AT HOME

At a time when Scouts, like many organisations, are unable to come together and learn new skills, British Fencing is delighted to launch a six-week programme that will enable Scouts to learn the basics of fencing at home and support the Scout Association’s campaign around #TheGreatIndoors

With the support of Rob Bruniges, Ben Peggs and Lucy Johnson, the BF team have committed to delivering fencing opportunities into the living rooms of Scouts across the country. Over the next six weeks, they will be releasing a series of videos that give young scouts the opportunity to learn the basics of fencing at home. Each week will see a new series of videos posted for leaders to share with their Scouts. The videos are designed for leaders to work through at a pace that suits them and their groups. New skills will be introduced, as well as the opportunity to put creative skills into practice, from designing your own Salle to making a sword at home.

Rob Bruniges who has worked with numerous Scout groups and leaders across the country said, “It’s fantastic to be able to continue the work we do with the Scouts. Instead of face to face delivery, we are doing it remotely. Bringing Lucy and Ben into the programme has made the experience even more enjoyable and it’s been really exciting to see the project come to fruition. We hope everyone enjoys it.”

Head of Participation Virginia Bailey said, “Working with Rob, Ben and Lucy over the last few weeks has been brilliant. They have all bought something different to the table and together have created an exciting resource that we hope will appeal to a range of Scouts, both from a sporting and creative perspective.”
