UNIVERSITY FENCING OFFICER COACH DEVELOPMENT WEEKEND: MARCH 12th & 13th

In response to demand for coaching courses in the University space, BF is trialling running two courses running in parallel this year, providing training to candidates interested in the Voluntary Role of University Fencing Officer (UFO), tailored to the attendee’s prior fencing experience.

ABOUT THIS COACH DEVELOPMENT WEEKEND

Training for the Voluntary Role as University Fencing Officer (UFO) provides UFOs with the knowledge, skills and attributes to effectively develop fencing or swordplay sessions as an introduction to fencing at the host university. For further information about UFOs please click here.

The course develops the UFO’s ability to provide appealing opportunities for students; engaging and attracting them to fencing and/or other fencing based participation programmes (Sabre:Lite).

UFO’s will have the choice of two courses, Core Coach, or Introduction to Coaching Fencing, depending on their fencing experience.

All candidates that attend either course will be known as University Fencing Officers (UFOs) and become part of a wider community of coaches.

Both courses will be introduced to the Sabre: Lite module.

BF Level 2 qualified coaches working in university clubs will be offered these courses free as part of their CPD.
