USHER ELECTED PRESIDENT OF FIE WOMEN AND FENCING COUNCIL

At the recent FIE Commission and Council Meetings, Georgina Usher was elected as President of the FIE Women and Fencing Council

The FIE Women and Fencing Council works to:

  • Increase the number of initiatives to encourage more women to participate in fencing, both as fencers and in the management of the sport
  • Encourage the organisation of training courses for women in the different areas of sport (leadership, management, supervisory staff, training, refereeing…)
  • Ensure equal opportunities in the management and participation of women and their representation in sport
  • Encourage women to work and contribute to the development of fencing throughout the world at all level

Georgina Usher said, “I am delighted to have been elected as president by my fellow Council members. I’d like to thank all the council members for their support and also thank retiring president Stacey Johnson (USA) for her strong leadership over the last two cycles which, importantly, delivered a minimum of 30% representation in all FIE Councils and Commissions. The council is currently working hard on our 2024 Paris work plan delivering on our mission to support women in fencing.”
