Limoges, France to host massive event

The Veterans World Championships 2015 begins today.  The six-day event takes place in Limoges, France and will see sixty British fencers compete across all six weapons in the A, B and C categories.  The team will be managed by Gillian Aghajan and eight of the British contingent will compete in two weapons.  Category A fencers are aged 50-59, B 60-69 and C 70+.

At the age of 87, Connie Adam will be amongst the oldest competitors.  Connie recently received an Award of Merit from British Fencing and featured in an article posted on this website last week.

Speaking about the event, British Fencing’s Chief Executive, Georgina Usher said; “The popularity of fencing for the over 50s continues to grow, inspiring people of all ages to get involved with the sport.  It is fantastic that we have a team containing fencers who started in their 50s representing their country alongside ex-Olympians.  On behalf of British Fencing we wish them all the best of luck in these Championships.”

Results for the event will be posted here and you can find out more on the official event website.
