VOLUNTEERS’ WEEK 2026

Between the 1st and 7th June 2026, we’re celebrating Volunteers’ Week and the contributions of volunteers in the fencing community.

Volunteers’ Week is an annual UK-wide campaign held from the first Monday in June to celebrate and recognise the contributions of volunteers.

Launched in 1984, this initiative has been running for over 40 years, providing organisations and communities a platform to thank current and past volunteers for their invaluable efforts.

The campaign highlights the diversity and unity of volunteer work across the UK. In its 40th year, the campaign underwent a rebrand, introducing a vibrant identity to inspire continued engagement.

Volunteers’ Week fosters connections between national organisations and grassroots groups, celebrating the spirit of volunteering that enriches communities each year.

How can BF members and clubs get involved?

  • Recruitment fair or open day: Volunteers’ Week is a great time to attract new volunteers, showcase efforts, and promote your organisation. Hosting a recruitment fair or an open day can help promote and engage potential volunteers.
  • A celebration coffee morning: Hosting a coffee morning, either in person or virtually, provides a casual, informal way to show appreciation for your volunteers. It’s a great opportunity to connect, chat, and thank them for their valuable contributions.
  • Recognition or awards evening: Hearing from those they’ve helped and receiving formal recognition can mean a lot to volunteers. Hosting a recognition or awards evening is a great way to celebrate their contributions and show appreciation.

Visit the Volunteers’ Week website here to get involved.

Spread the word about Volunteers’ Week by sharing your plans, thank-you messages, photos, and videos on social media. Use the official campaign hashtag #VolunteersWeek to reach a wider audience and inspire others to join in celebrating the incredible contributions of volunteers.
