The end of July finished with three full days of talent assessments, starting with women’s foil followed straight after by men and women’s epee.  Across all of the six weapons we have now tested 83 athletes, no mean feat for our team of sport scientists and coaches.  The athletes were tested across a number of key areas including within a lesson situation, doing footwork and in sparring situations.  They also all had a full medical assessment, a lifestyle and commitment discussion and went through a battery of demanding physical tests.  Congratulations go to all those athletes that went through the assessments.

We are pleased to announce the full list of athletes that have been selected onto our two talent programmes.

With 8 athletes identified for our Talent Programme and 20 on our TIC Programme the hard work now begins to turn them in to the champions of the future.

Our next Talent Assessment dates are 21st, 22nd, 23rd December 2013 for invited athletes only.  It will be one day per weapon both men and women.  Athletes not able to make the first batch of assessments plus a number of identified athletes will be invited to these assessments.  We will be issuing invites in the next few weeks so that you can get the dates reserved in the diary.
