2020 BF AGM Report

All resolutions passed, BF Honours and 2021 Membership Fees announced.

The British Fencing Association Annual General Meeting was held on Saturday 10th October, 2020, 09.30am, online.

This was the first virtual AGM of BF.  Members voted in advance by proxy with formal questions also submitted in advance.

Chair welcomed the two new elected Board Directors: Pat Aiyenuro and James Williams.  Chair also thanked the two departing Board Directors, John Troiano and Anne Catrin-Sallaba for their contribution and commitment to the sport over the years.

John Troiano presented an overview of the 2019-20 accounts and 2020-21 budget, covering the impact of COVID-19.

All three resolutions were passed unanimously:

  1. To receive the annual accounts for the financial year ending 31st March 2020
  2. To approve the extension of the appointment of Mark Lyttle for a second four-year term as Independent Chair of British Fencing
  3. To approve the extension of the appointment of Hilary Philbin as British Fencing’s President to expire at the first Annual General Meeting of British Fencing after the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo

The CEO announced that BF and the Home Nations had agreed that the 2021 Membership Fees would be frozen.

The 2020 BF Honours were announced and will be presented by Hilary Philbin at a later date:

SILVER MEDAL  Jon Salfield
For services to Truro Fencing Club and British Sabre fencing

At the end of the meeting there was a short break followed by an informal Q&A where the CEO and Chair answered questions arising.
