2024 ROBERT BRUNIGES MEMORIAL FUND SUCCESSFUL GRANTS

Congratulations to Lev Jacqueline Hu, Eilidh Paterson and Mohammed Belbouab, who have been awarded grants by the Robert Bruniges Memorial Fund 2024.

The Robert Bruniges Memorial Fund panel is pleased to announce that the following fencers have been successful in securing a grant of £300 each:

  • Lev Jacqueline Hu, Cadet Foil, Edinburgh Fencing Club.
  • Eilidh Paterson, Cadet Epee, Tunbridge Wells.
  • Mohammed Belbouab, Cadet Foil, Newham Swords Fencing Club.
Lev Jacqueline Hu, Cadet Foil, Edinburgh Fencing Club.

The panel says that their applications closely mirror and echo the ethos that symbolises what the Robert Bruniges Fund was set up for. The standard and number of applications was extremely high, which was most likely due to the position in the competition calendar and the closeness to the European and World Cadet & Junior Championships.

Eilidh Paterson, Cadet Epee, Tunbridge Wells.

The panel would like to acknowledge their appreciation in all applicants in their effort, ability, recent results and for taking the time to apply.

Mohammed Belbouab, Cadet Foil, Newham Swords Fencing Club.

Rob was a cherished member of the BF community and was World Junior Foil Champion 1976, GB Foil Champion 1981, and a GBR Olympian in  1976, 1980, and 1984. He was also a coach, coach developer, mentor and a great friend to many. In February 2023, Bath Sword Club (BSC) started a memorial fund in Rob’s honour. Donations for this fund are still welcome.

The panel will be reopening the fund for Cadets and Juniors in Autumn 2024 for the 2024-25 season.
