2025 BF HONOURS: LUKE DEAMER

As nominations for the 2026 BF Honours open, we’re shining a spotlight on last year’s recipients. In this feature, we speak to Luke Deamer, who received a Silver Medal for tireless work supporting the growth of fencing by developing and delivering high-quality entry-level referee training, mentoring and examining for referees, paving the way for the transformation of the UK’s refereeing culture.

After being asked about his work in fencing and his reaction to receiving the Award, Luke said:

“It was a genuine surprise to receive this British Fencing silver medal! I really enjoy referee education and mentoring, so it’s been great fun to create and deliver the education system alongside my own international refereeing. I’d like to think this medal recognises all those instructors and mentors who have helped train the next generation of referees. Hopefully it also means something for all those volunteers that give up their free time to referee at events – we really depend on you, so thank you!”

ABOUT THE BF HONOURS

BF Honours are awarded to members who have demonstrably upheld the BF values of honesty, respect and excellence, all while making a significant contribution to fencing in the UK. Awards are conferred annually and announced and presented at the AGM by the BF President.

Fencers who have represented GBR either as an individual or as a team member and have achieved a podium place in specific categories will automatically be recommended for an appropriate award.

Nominations for the 2026 BF Honours are open and close on the 29th May 2026. Click here to make your nomination.

The BF Honours are separate from the BF Community Awards.
