
As the 2027 European Championships will be part of the 2027 European Games in Istanbul, a reminder that this impacts the selection process and athletes looking to be selected will need to start planning now, supported by their coaches.
On the 13th June in Genoa, the EFC Congress confirmed that the 2027 Senior European Championships will take place as part of the European Games.
These Games will be the fourth edition of the European Games, awarded to Istanbul by the European Olympic Committee (EOC).
As an EOC event, selection rights for the event sit with the National Olympic Committees. For Great Britain, this means that British Fencing will nominate athletes to the British Olympic Association (Team GB) for selection.
Performance standards for nomination of individuals and teams will be agreed with Team GB. These are likely to be strictly adhered to with little/no discretion and will be confirmed in consultation with the BOA in the coming months. Athletes looking to be nominated should:
