To welcome as many fencers as possible from across the UK, the entry window for the 2026 Open Championships (Senior, Wheelchair and U14s) has been extended and late entry pricing has been removed. Entries now close Thursday 25th June, 12pm.
British Open Senior Championships
The entry deadline for the British Open Senior Championships has been extended from the 22nd June to the 25th June 2026 at 12pm, with general pricing lasting throughout. There will be no late entry pricing added to this event.
Entry fee: £84 per event
The British Open Senior Championships is one of the most important competitions in the domestic season, offering a genuine opportunity to strengthen ranking position and make meaningful progress. The event carries a multiplier of 700, putting it on a par with a well-attended EFC or FIE satellite event. It is therefore one of the most valuable UK-based competitions for ranking points, without the need to travel abroad. In practical terms:
While it is a key competition for Seniors, the Open Senior Championships is also a nominated event for Cadets and Juniors. This brings together fencers from across the GBR Pathway, making it one of the largest events in the country.
As in previous years, clubs are required to provide a referee for the British Open Senior Championships, based on the number of fencers they enter. BF wants to work with clubs (where they are required to provide referees in accordance with their club entries) in a collaborative manner. For more info about referee provisions, please click here.
British Open Wheelchair Championships
The entry deadline for the British Open Wheelchair Championships has been extended from the 22nd June to the 25th June 2026 at 12pm.
Entry fee: £25 per weapon
BF is aware that not everyone who wants to fence sitting down is currently classified, or is interested in or able to be classified under the Paralympics system, but we don’t want that to stop people from being able to take part in the sport. If you have always been fascinated by wheelchair fencing, but aren’t a wheelchair user day-to-day, the British Open Wheelchair Championships is your opportunity.
At the British Open Championships, we have fencing for everyone. You can join the wheelchair competition in any of the three weapons, and BF will have an RMA fencing wheelchair available to borrow for bouts (please contact us if you have any more kit requirements to take part).
British Open U14 Championships
The entry deadline for the British Open U14 Championships has been extended from the 22nd June to the 25th June 2026 at 12pm.
Entry fee: £74 per event
For young fencers and their families, the Under 14 British Ranking Competition (BRC) series provide a clear, structured, and supportive introduction to the sport, helping athletes build confidence and develop essential skills from an early stage.
The British Open U14 Championships is the standout event in this calendar. With the highest domestic multiplier, it offers a significant opportunity to earn ranking points and benchmark performance against peers from across the country. Only fencers ranked in the top half of the U14 ranking lists are eligible to compete at European Fencing Confederation (EFC) events. As the Open U14 Championships have a multiplier of 250, results from this event can have a significant impact on ranking opportunities and seeding for the remainder of the season. The event also provides a supportive and fun environment for Under 14 fencers to fence competitively.
Fencers born in 2013 and later are eligible to enter U14 events, provided they are at least ten years old on the day of competition and hold a BF Compete licence.
