RED WEATHER RESPONSE FOR CLUBS & EVENTS – JUNE 2026

Any club or event in a red weather warning area that intends to remain open this week must update their risk assessment taking into account whether the venue has air conditioning/cooling measures and other factors such as travel, health, age of all participants. BF expects clubs and event organisers running events in red weather warning areas to take responsible decisions and close in advance if indoor temperatures are expected to rise to 32 degrees or above.

As a reminder the BF Hot Weather Guidance states:

“If the temperature of the venue is expected to rise above 27 degrees, the risk assessment of the activity must be updated in advance and mitigation strategies identified. Above 32 degrees, organisers must consider stopping the competition/training  (either temporarily to allow temperatures to fall, or permanently) and any decision to continue must be logged in writing, noting the factors that led to the decision and the mitigation strategies in place.”

As a red weather warning involves broader risks such as the risk of travelling and risk to life clubs and event organisers in these areas must take action.
