  • Must be a member of British Fencing
  • Must sign and abide by the BF Declaration of Good Character and notify the CEO should there be any reason why they can no longer be bound by the declaration.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of all international relation appointments include to:

  • Participate in BF delegations internationally, as appropriate
  • Operate wholly within and in support of BF strategy and policy as expressed by the Board and overseen by the BF President & CEO
  • Engage in succession planning, assisting with identifying and supporting the next generation of IR candidates
  • Ensure that they are available for pre-meeting and post-meeting briefings with the BF President and/or IRC members
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the impact of any IR activities (eg proposed rule changes) are understood and mitigated where possible
  • By agreement with the IRC, to represent British Fencing at formal occasions, international or domestic, such as official functions, events,  competitions and presentations.

Term

  • The terms of IR postholders run in accordance with the terms set out within the relevant bodies statutes.
  • All post-holder positions are reviewed in accordance with these terms, at a minimum prior to each election/selection.
  • There should be no assumption that an incumbant postholder will be automatically put forward as a candidate for a following term
  • In exceptional circumstances the BF Board may require a post-holder to step down mid-term.
