BF is delighted to reveal the new British Fencing website.

As part of the branding project in 2016, our creative agency WeLaunch created a bold new vision for the BF website. Since then the BF team have been working hard (alongside the day jobs!) with Excalibur, our technical specialists, to turn this vision into a reality.

Our goal was to create a website that promotes the sport of fencing and provides our existing and future members of our community with all the information they need in an easy to use and accessible way.

There is much work still to be done (especially on the mobile phone version) but we have taken the decision to launch early in ‘beta testing mode’. This is so we can use feedback from our community to improve the site in advance of the new season start in September.

Although we have been focussing on launching with the basic structure we have included a few exciting new pieces of functionality

  1. Event Calendar and Search – All licensed events are now accessible on the Home page of the BF website which links to our event search. This provides participants with an easy to use tool to help plan their diaries. If you are running any kind of fencing event please make sure that your event is showing.
  2. Search Function – Hopefully this functionality does what it says on the tin! Do test it out and let us know.
  3. Athlete Profiles – A selection of our top athletes are now promoted on the Home Page. Over time we intend to build up their profiles and create a library of profiles of all our top GBR fencers.  Without a funded performance programme all our athletes are continually searching for sponsorship and we hope that increased visibility and profile on our website will help their search.

And look out for an exciting announcement over the coming week regarding a new and enhanced club finder powered by activity finder specialists Fibodo (https://www.fibodo.com/).

At this time we are asking for your help to test out the website and report any issues. If you can’t find information that you would expect to see please do let us know using the feedback tabs at the side of every web page or email us at [email protected].

Please bear with us over the next couple of months as we work to improve the site. We are a small organisation and we don’t have a dedicated website team so if you do spot an issue we may not be able to drop everything and fix it straight away. But we will be grateful for your feedback and will try our best to fix issues as quick as we can. The site may run more slowly if we are pushing improvements live but we hope that you find it worth the wait!

Finally we would also like to hear from you if you come across something you really like. Whether it’s helpful information, a function you like to see or just a great image you would like to see more of, please use the feedback tab and do let us know.
