Youth Panel

The Youth Panel (YP) is a panel of GB fencer representatives aged 25 or under.

Terms of Reference

The Panel will:

  • Be made up of at least 6 members under the age of 25 representing all 3 weapons.
  • Select its Chair and Deputy Chair persons
  • Determine method and frequency of meetings
  • Create a Youth Charter which will define commitments to be made by both international athletes and the Board of British Fencing to ensure our values of honesty, respect and excellence are maintained
  • Act as the conduit between the Board and the U23 GB athletes to ensure the Board is aware of Youth issues and can make informed decisions that affect the international athletes
  • Initiate new projects and initiatives that will further support young people in British Fencing

 

Purpose

  • To be representative of all athletes under 25 competing for GB internationally at U17, U20 and U23 level (henceforth Young Athletes = YA)
  • To provide a mechanism to feedback to Board and Management about issues that affect YA
  • To provide a means of support to navigate complaint and appeal procedures
  • To ensure that the views of YA are represented at policy making level
  • To be a link between YA and the British Fencing board and Senior Leadership Team
