COMPETITIVE FENCERS JOIN IN WEEKLY ADP STRENGTH & CONDITIONING SESSIONS

British Fencing invites competitive fencers to join ADP Strength and Conditioning sessions for a 6-week programme of Wednesday evenings in November and December.

To help you during the current lockdown we are planning to make some of our Athlete Development Programme online strength and conditioning sessions available to the British fencing community, to share some of the expertise and to help you through the next few weeks in anticipation of your return to fencing next year.

The sessions are designed for competitive fencers, they are not suitable for beginners or inexperienced fencers. There is a minimum age of 15 and U18s will need to be supervised by a parent or guardian.

The sessions will be run on Zoom on Wednesday evenings. They will consist of a 10-15 minute presentation, a 5 min Q&A on educational topics, 40-45 minutes of practical application and general fencing focused bodyweight home training.

All sessions will include physical exercises that will be a progression from the previous week.

There will be homework, it will not be reviewed but is an opportunity for you to take ownership of your own training.

The sessions will be limited to 100 people to allow for feedback, you will need to register in advance using the link that has been emailed to all members with an up-to-date Compete membership. We would like fencers to commit to all 6 sessions.

If you hold a valid Compete membership and have not received an invitation to the sessions, please check you have allowed communications from British Fencing from your Sport80 profile. You may need to check your email folders for the invitation. If you are unable to receive invitations by email, please contact [email protected]

BF will continue to update our COVID-19 advice here. You can also subscribe to our new weekly summary email featuring the previous week’s latest news and announcements. Sign up here.
