British Fencing is committed to providing fencers with opportunities to improve performance and develop as an individual in a cost effective way. We have teamed up with SkillsActive to offer you the chance of being part of and achieving the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE).

A Level 3 qualification (equivalent to A-levels) based around an NVQ in Achieving Excellence in Sports Performance; designed for fencers who have the realistic potential to achieve excellence and are seeking to perform at the highest level. Delivered through the British Fencing National Academy, the programme will cover all areas of fencing and athletic development. This innovative and exciting programme will help fencers to develop as athletes as well as gain a nationally recognised qualification.

AASE is notionally a 2 year programme for fencers aged 16-18 on the 1st September 2012. Fencers will normally start AASE at the beginning of year 12.

Fencers on the AASE programme will get financial support for all British Fencing National Academy activity and for international competition. In addition there will be extra training sessions only available to AASE fencers.
